Introducing the African Dinner Series at 15th Street Farm: A Journey Through Flavor, Culture, and Connection
At 15th Street Farm, we believe food is more than a meal—
it’s a bridge between cultures, a way to build community, and an invitation to learn. That’s why we’re excited to launch our new African Dinner Series, an immersive culinary journey exploring the diverse cuisines and rich heritage of the African continent.
Inspired by The Soul of a New Cuisine by Marcus Samuelsson, the series will highlight dishes from the North, South, East, and West, showing how ingredients, traditions, and spices vary from region to region—and why those differences matter.
Our very first dinner in the series is just around the corner!

Chef Terrell Manning
The five-course farm-to-table dinner
Curated by award-winning Chef Terrell Manning, will celebrate the bold and vibrant flavors of West Africa. Each dish is rooted in tradition, showcasing the region’s cultural and agricultural richness while reflecting Chef Manning’s passion for preservative-free, health-conscious cuisine.
The Menu Includes:
Fresh Herb Greens & Tomato Salad (inspired by Kachumbari)
Okro & Roasted Sweet Potato Salad
Spiced Goat & Jollof Rice
Lamb Meatballs with Obe Ata Glaze
Kokoti Mint Delight
Each dish tells a story—of land, family, resilience, and community.
As we gather around the table, we’re also honoring a deeper purpose.
15th Street Farm’s founder and executive director, Emmanuel Roux, was born in North Africa and spent many years in West Africa. His personal connection to the region’s food, culture, and people makes this series particularly meaningful.
“Food is one of the most powerful ways we can connect to each other,” says Roux. “Through this series, we want to create a space where guests can not only enjoy incredible meals, but also learn and grow through shared cultural experiences.”
Whether you’ve never tasted Jollof Rice before or it brings you back to memories of home, we invite you to be part of this special evening. It’s not just about what’s on the plate—it’s about who we share it with, and the stories we honor along the way.
Why It Matters
At 15th Street Farm, every experience is rooted in our mission to connect food, culture, and health. Through hands-on education, immersive dining, and community engagement, we cultivate not just crops—but understanding, equity, and connection.
We call it Dining with Purpose. We hope you’ll join us.
